A Needy People

I have to sing with David when he cries out to God in the book of Psalm.  "Hear me, Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God; have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long. Bring joy to your servant, Lord, for I put my trust in you. You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. Hear my prayer, Lord; listen to my cry for mercy. When I am in distress, I call to you, because you answer me." Psalm 86:1-7 

 I need my heavenly Father!  There isn't a minute that goes by in which I don't need Him.  Oh, I might get caught up in the day to day and think I'm self sufficient, but how quickly I can be reminded of the Rock He is for me. "Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken." Psalm 62:6  All it takes is a phone call, a word from a friend, a choice of a loved one, or a life changing event and then I'm right back to the place where my precious Lord loves for me to be - needing Him. "I love those who love me,  and those who seek me find me."  Proverbs 8:17  Our need for Him comes in all different sizes and shapes.  We need Him for peace in the midst of our storms.  “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33  We need Him when we are afraid.  "So do not fear, for I am with you;  do not be dismayed, for I am your God.I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Isaiah 41:10  We need His voice when we are confused and seeking direction. " For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11  We need Him when temptation creeps into our world and we are close to making a decision that can reap greater consequences than we can ever fathom.  "No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it." 1 Corinthians 10:13  We need Him in our joy, so we can thank Him.  "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;  his love endures forever." 1 Chronicles 16:34  We need Him in our pain for comfort.  The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18  We need Him when we are anxious about things.  "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7  We need Him every day in every circumstance. "And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work."  2 Corinthians 9:8

We need Him when we consider our past - to cover our sins and teach us new paths.  We need Him for today - to get us through it.  We need Him for our future - to guide us.  We need Him in the end - to lead us home to heaven.  "But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself."  Philippians 3:20-21
