The Introduction
I have this burning desire to share the wonderful relationship I have with Christ with the rest of the world. The first who come to mind are my children. What parent doesn't want the BEST for their children? I have spent a number of years sharing God's truths with my family. Sometimes they are sweet and just smile and then there are times they just say, please stop. My hope is one day, if not today, they will realize this wonderful truth I am sharing with them is the most important thing I can give them. What does it look like when we share our faith with our children? In their younger years, sometimes we drag them to church and unfortunately they start out resenting worshipping our Heavenly Father. Looking back, I can see the mistakes I personally made in this task and it hurts my heart. I have learned a lesson from this. We must introduce others to the One we worship before we introduce them to the pew. So many times we expect people to embrace God's truths without knowing Him first. How can people accept and embrace the words of Christ until they learn to love Him and trust Him?
When I invite you to church - it is because I want you to get to know Christ. There is a God who created you. He loves you so much, He sent His Son to die on a cross for you. Christ died for our sins so that we could come before a Holy Father and be able to spend eternity in Heaven. I don't go to church because I think it is the right thing to do. It's not about making me feel better. I go to church because I want to worship my Lord. I want to know more about my Savior. I want to draw closer to Christ and be where He is. I want to know what He desires for me and His will for my life. I want to know His ways. I want to hear His truths. His truths are wisdom that guide me in my life. And if I seek Him, seek to know Him and seek His will then His blessings pour over me. For my life, there is no greater joy than knowing Him. I get to know what it feels like to have a Heavenly Father. I get to experience His joy in my heart. I get to embrace trust through my trials. Knowing Christ gives me something bigger than anything in this world! It gives me all the things we search for everyday of our lives - love, peace, direction, trust and hope. I get to experience all these wonderful things. There is nothing in this world that can offer this to me. So when I ask, "You want to come to church with me?", I'm trying to introduce you to Jesus.
If you get to know Jesus, then you begin to understand why I am trying so hard to share Him with you. Seek to know Him first. The Bible speaks of Who He is. It is up to each of us to individually to seek and understand Who He is. I don't want you to just consider what Christians say, but seek God's word and allow the Holy Spirit to speak these truths into your heart. You shouldn't just accept what your parents tell you is right or wrong. You shouldn't even accept what your church tells you is right or wrong. If you truly seek God's truths and open your heart up to what you read, He will open your eyes. His desire is for you to come to Him and spend time with Him. You might have the opportunity to be sitting under the ministry of a faithful pastor, who speaks God's truths. But nonetheless, it has to be what God says to your heart through His words of wisdom. Whether you hear it from a pulpit, from a preacher on a sidewalk or from reading the beautiful Bible, find a way to hear it. I'm trying to introduce you to my Savior, the best thing in my life. I don't care where you meet, just make sure you meet Him.
John 17:3 "Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."
