How Sweet It Is!

Psalm 27 is a reminder to me how precious it is to have a relationship with Christ.  What do you have today that you can truly trust in?  In this day and age, trust is something to be cherished.  We try to place our trust in things, money, relationships, work, etc.  These things will always disappoint.  Things like fancy cars will eventually wear out.  Money will disappear before your very eyes.  Proverbs 23:4-5 "Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness. Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle."  Relationships even though wonderful will always have times of  inefficacy.  Work - well in our economy it might very well be the biggest disappointment of our time.  There is only one thing we can completely trust in - Jesus.  I'm reminded of the old hymn, "Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus".

Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, Thus saith the Lord

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge me
’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from Jesus simply taking
Life and rest, and joy and peace.

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,
Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with me,
Wilt be with me to the end.

Jesus is our light for today and salvation for tomorrow.  He is our stronghold for our fears and our King of confidence.  Psalm 27:1 "The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me
to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me,
my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident."  Oh that we might dwell in His house all the days of our lives.  To see Him in all His splendor, to seek Him in all His wisdom and truth.  For when we are hurting and scared, He will keep us safe in His mighty hand.  Hiding us from evil and placing us high upon a rock.  Psalm 27: 4-5 "One thing I ask from the LORD, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock." We will sing out with joy and praise because of His faithfulness.  Hear us Lord, when we cry out - show mercy and answer us please.  Seek His face Psalm 27: 7-8 "Hear my voice when I call, LORD;
be merciful to me and answer me. My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek", learn His ways, and stay on His path Psalm 27: 11 "Teach me your way, LORD; lead me in a straight path" !

And in conclusion, Psalm 27:13-14 "I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD."
