A Call to Action

What does it mean to love Jesus?  Get ready, in the words of my daughter, there's a sermon in your future.  Do we all just want to say we know Jesus?  Do we all just want to say we accept Him as Savior?  Do we all just believe?  It is wonderful to believe and acknowledge that Jesus died on the cross for our sins!!  But I beg you please don't stop there.

If you truly love Jesus and GET what He did for you, you have to open your heart and embrace the desire to thank Him, seek Him, please Him, serve Him and glorify Him.  Being in a relationship with Jesus is so much more than just saying you accept Him as your Savior.  A relationship without actions is just not a relationship.  For instance, what if you decide to have a relationship with a new friend.  However, you never told anyone the person was your friend, spent no time with the friend, never tried to get to know the friend, didn't go to their house, didn't talk to the friend or listen to them, and didn't care about pleasing the friend.  Is that a relationship?  Well, if you sincerely want to have a relationship with Christ, then have one!

Jesus died on the cross because He loved us.  He wants us to be anxious to hang out.  When was the last time you took the time to just spend time in His word, praying or drawing closer to Him?  He speaks to us through His beautiful words in the scriptures.  We can't find a more faithful, wise and loving friend than Him.  He is always ready to listen to us.  He will never reject your call, send you to voicemail, not respond to your text or not like your post.  He is ready to hear from you...hanging on to your every word.  If you aren't embracing this friendship, you are missing out on what God has intended for your life - here and in eternity.

In addition to time with Jesus, I would be remiss if I didn't address pleasing those we love.  What do you know about pleasing Jesus?  What do you truly think Jesus wants you to be, pursue and desire?  Are there things in your life that don't measure up to what God's scriptures call you to do?  We must all be hungry to read God's word so we can make sure we are pleasing Him.  Jesus doesn't want us to live a life that glorifies the ways of this world.  He calls us to a higher standard - a life that will glorify Him.

Don't just speak the words of your faith...live them!
