Ubiquity means "always there...always everywhere". Last week, I was faithful to my quiet time each day - however I struggled to sense God's presence. I would try to read deeper, pray longer or seek more passion in my approach, however I couldn't feel His gentle Spirit. There are times in our lives when we won't feel God is with us, but let me share with you what God's word says about this. Psalm 139:7-10 "Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast." God is always with us and His hand is upon us. What a comfort to know! In Deuteronomy 31:6 and Hebrews 13:5 God tells us "he will never leave you nor forsake you". This gives me great peace to know I don't have to depend on my emotions to know God is near. His word speaks a far greater truth than my emotions ever will. I am happy to know He is faithful to be with me always.
Not only in those times when we seek to spend time with Him, but also when we are struggling in life. Sometimes we might feel all alone, but He is there. Sometimes we might feel afraid, but fear not He is there. One of my favorite scriptures, which I have quoted before gives great comfort. Isaiah 43: 1-5 "“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior." Another reassuring scripture is Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Reread that scripture. Nothing and I mean nothing can ever separate us from the Lord....not even death. If death can't, then I am certain the things of this world won't stand a chance.
As you go through each quiet time, each heartache, each hour be mindful God is right there with you. He has made us His own. 1 Samuel 12:22 "For the sake of his great name the LORD will not reject his people, because the LORD was pleased to make you his own." He has engraved us in the palm of His hands. Isaiah 49:16 "See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands". You are not alone in this life - no matter what you might think or feel, God is with you. Isaiah 41:13 "For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." What a peaceful and comfort to know an Almighty God is holding your hand as you go through each day. He is there - always there and always everywhere! He is with us.
Footsteps In The Sand
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand:
one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him
he looked back, at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you,
you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:
"My son, My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you,
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
